The Dreaded BLOB!!!...A Shitty Conversation
Remeber when you were a kid and one of your uncles would say to you "Hows ya bowels?".......
If there is one thing that I hate about my lapband it is the constipation that comes from not digesting enough fibre (or food for that matter).....We, thanks to Margie's inept sense of humour, call it the BLOB (Back Log Of Bog).....I suffer badly with it, to the point of tears and time off work. I have tried heaps of products to fix it....benefibre, dry fibre bla bla bla but nothing works....in the end its 5 coloxyl and a lay down til its time to give birth, so to speak...and it sure feels like that sometimes!
I wish I could eat more and have a regular bowel but really, even when I was bandless I only did number 2's once a week...ONCE A WEEK??? I hear you say...yep! But my doc told me that if thats the way you are thats the way you are....I wonder if I had been able to poo every day whether my weight would have been more stable, but its pie in the sky theories...really I ate too much hahaha....
I am not a coffee/tea drinker, never have been, so there is another stimulate I miss....I dont have a coffee and a poo first thing like most "normal" people. I dont eat very much at all, so no fibre....no poo!
So lappie people of the world...what do you do to avoid the BLOB situation? I'd love to hear your success stories!
Shitty conversation..but hey....there you are.....she says as she reaches for the coloxyl once again..........
Dont forget to add your email so you dont miss this shit LOL

Easter at St Helens 2011
Well readers...As you all know I run a facebook group called "Tassie Lapbanders" and this year we decided to have a meetup at Easter on the beautiful East Coast, so I packed up the family and off we went. I hadnt been up there for over 20 years! We booked a unit and packed the car...the MacQueen's were on a road trip! Took us about 2 hrs from Brighton....was worried about the traffic being it was a long weekend but no hassles at all...was an easy drive. We got there..booked in and unpacked and looked forward to welcoming drinkies at the gorgeous Lisa's that night....and what a night we had!!
We had some VERY yummy food and of course it wasnt long before the Jager was pouring and we were all well on the way HAHA.....
Bahahahahaha.....we had a great night catching up and laughing and drinking and laughing some more! How would St Helens ever cope with us!! LOL.....The next day we caught up again for lunch at Binalong Bay Cafe.....gorgeous spot!
Sat night we planned to go to the RSL for dinner then on to the Bayside Inn for KARAOKE! Well none of us actually karaokied....but we DID drink and dance and laugh til the early hours...they stopped selling shots at 10pm...so because we are older and smarter...we were ordering sambuca with a small dribble of lemonade because guess what! THE PUB HAD NO JAGER!! Was a fantastic night with some amazing people!
St Helens wont forget us in a hurry and I will certainly be back to do it all again soon!! The next day we had a free day to wander around with our families and check out the gorgeous scenery....we went to the Bay of Fires for a look..the kids loved it.
Thanks to all that came and enjoyed Easter with my family and I....you girls and your fella's are all so very special to me and I love partying with you all xxx
Bring on the next Meet-Up I say!! Happy Easter to everyone!

I think Trace has the pics to prove it... OH DEAR! :D
Off to beautiful St Helen's on the East Coast with the kiddies next weekend for Easter...not camping this year..we are roughing it in a nice self contained cabin...Its getting colder and boy do I feel the cold these days....And I get to have a catch up with all my Lappy ladies who are making the trek as well for a weekend of food, drinkies and karaoke!! Ahhh.....Lets getaway from it all......
What a fantastic weekend I have had....after a couple of VERY stressful weeks, I was lucky enough to be indulged in a couple of luxurious nights away on Hobart Waterfront. Had a fantastic time, with awesome company and got to chill out.
My crazy mate (and partner in many adventures) Trace came to keep me company for a few hours sat night and we popped over to Customs House Hotel and had a few (too many for me) Pale Ale's and then back to the Hotel....we then decided to pop down to one of the bar/cafe's under the hotel for a cocktail.....so in we go to T42 and immediately we, well I did anyway, felt like a grandmother in a creche.....the staff were not terribly interested in us....but we soldiered on an ordered a cocktail each anyway.....At $17 a pop!
This was Trace's Bloody Mary....It was that spicy that she had to send it back and try, with rubber dinghy lips, to ask for it to be chilled out LOL, which they couldnt manage and she never finished the drink, ordering herself a glass of tomato juice instead....then mine came out...Carribean Cruiser....
Now I know bars these days like edgy, hip, totally cool attitudes...BUT A FARKING JAM JAR?? What were they thinking?? I couldnt believe it....remarking to the waiter, clearly they had run out of glasses...hahahahahaha.....needless to say, I wont be going back there....Small speed bump in an otherwise WICKED weekend.
The view from my room
Nice when a tall ship just happens to float by...
Me ready for the Casino...we didnt win unfortunatley but was a fun night......Sunday we caught the ferry over to MONA...http://mona.net.au/ I loved it....some wouldn't....I dont care....I like thinking outside the box hahahaha...I dont think the owner thinks of anything but the box HAHA....The exhibit "Cunts and Other Conversations" pretty much backs me up on this thought hahahaha.....If you get a chance check it out but remember it is a private collection and definatley NOT your usual Museum.....There isnt much I didnt like about it, from the architecture, ipod guides, exhibits and the unique ferry ride (which I missed to go home lol) I say well done to him and thanks really for building it here in little old Tassie!
So now I'm back in reality..kids are fighting over the cubby house they built in the lounge room...lunches to be made yet....yep...I'm home LOL.......

Yep! I'm GREEN!
http://www.tarkine.org/
Today I read something that has enraged me. I never want my blog to be political or any of that bullshit but today I read that mining companys have started exploration drilling in the Tarkine!
I cant believe this is happening. The Wilderness Society and The Greens are fighting so hard to stop any logging and now its mining...Why, after countless protests and HUGE support to have it listed under National Heritage can this be allowed? Well let me tell you!
* courtesy of the TNC http://www.tarkine.org/
"In December 2010 the Environment Minister Tony Burke allowed the Emergency National Heritage Listing to lapse despite having received an assessment by the Australian Heritage Council recommending a National Heritage Listing. The report which was leaked to the public on 8th March 2011, confirmed the National Heritage values of the Tarkine, and recommended a 434,000 hectare permanent National Heritage Listing.
Minister Burke told the media and the TNC last December that the AHC would need 18 months to complete their assessment, despite clearly having had the completed assessment on his desk two months earlier!
What is apparent is that the interests of miners are being placed above the Minister's obligations to the environment. All three proposed mining projects will have secured Commonwealth environmental permits during that18 month period, allowing them to avoid scrutiny against National Heritage criteria. They will also be allowed to continue exploration drilling and associated access roading without need for Commonwealth assessments."
It breaks my heart. This is a beautiful piece of life that can easily be destroyed and YES I have been there...YES I have seen it with my own two eyes and it is beyond beautiful...It is ancient and glorious and I have to do something to stop this.
I spent most of my childhood spending every available holiday with my Mum, Dad and Sister at Couta Rocks in the NW Tas area....hell of a trip in...dirt roads, huge forests, always a crazy adventure in the 70's. It was my father Don's (dec) favourite place in the entire world, he was an (lic) abalone diver, and somehow we would get Ms Abba (our boat) up and in there, to our shack on a 100 year lease, as did all the other families that have shacks there. My Dad passed away in 1979 and our holidays there ceased with everything else. In the early 90's I had a mate take me up there to revisit my childhood memories and I can tell you, I cried so hard at the destruction that logging had done to the area. It was a disgraceful mess, raped and pillaged and I was determined from that point on that I would do anything in my power to stop this happening to the best of my ability. I joined as a paying member of the Wilderness Society and have been for over 20 years and PROUD to be!
Now its not only logging...they want to mine it.......SOB!!
Please, even if your not a green minded person....Google the Tarkine or follow my link here http://www.tarkine.org/the_tarkine.php....see for your own eyes how this eco system can so easily be destroyed, along with the thousands of species of animals, flora and fauna with it.....this breaks my heart :(

Great Lakes!!
What a road trip my friend Trace and I had this weekend! Up to the Great Lakes in The Central Highlands of Tasmania. I am very lucky to have another bander friend that owns The Great Lake Hotel, so we more or less have a permanent room there now hahaha. On the way up we saw some UNUSUAL road kill....so unusual that we turned around and took some pics for proof.....check it out....
WTF?!! Are there so many crays in Tassie that we can throw them away?? Hahahahahaha....My cousin reckons if this is the sort of road kill the Central highlands have he is taking the bull bar off and adding a cray bar! LOL.
We also came across a pub with no beer (see top pic) but not really because someone had left a full can of beer on the doorstep of it hahaha....
Anyway we got there eventually and had a fantastic night with some lovely locals, made some new friends and danced the night away to my favourite local band The Wolfe Bros! Thanks Kaylee and all your staff for a fabulous night!
Yep...I love weekends! :)
